The Computer Science Department, at the faculty of Computers and Information at Assiut university was established according to the faculty's law issued by Ministerial Decree No. (694) on 22/5/2004 in order to graduate students equipped with the specialized scientific knowledge assets in the field of computer science and keep them ready to face the modern changes.

In addition, the department is also using the available potentials to solve social problems through presenting excellent curricula in six different branches of computer science, applying the scientific research, and meeting the international standards.

Mission

The Department of Computer Science,  to prepare graduates equipped with scientific knowledge assets specialized in the field of computer science while keeping pace with the department's programs with modern variables to solve community problems. This is done by providing distinguished curricula in different 6 branches of computer science and its scientific and applied research, subject to international standards, quality and positive interaction of the department's role in serving the environment and community development.

Vision

The Department of Computer Science seeks to provide the elements for the continuous development of education in the field of computer science to keep pace with the rapid scientific and technological developments and to improve university performance, and to elevate the department’s graduates to the level of excellence and high competitiveness, and to complete distinguished scientific research and studies, and to maximize the department’s role in serving the environment and developing society.

Goals 

• Prepare specialists in the field of computer science with theoretical foundations and application methodologies to enable them to compete internationally in developing computer and information technologies.
• Conduct scientific and applied studies and research in the field of computer science that have a direct impact on the integrated development of society.
• Provide scientific and technical advice and assistance to bodies and agencies that use computer technologies.
• Rehabilitation of graduates of different colleges according to the needs of the labor market in modern fields of computer science by holding applied diplomas.
• Deepen the awareness of the use of computer technologies in the sectors and institutions of the state and raising the efficiency of their use through specialized professional training courses.
• Participate with the specialized authorities to develop and Arabize computer software
• Organize seminars and holding scientific conferences with the aim of deepening concepts and upgrading the scientific level among specialized cadres.
• Conclude scientific agreements with the corresponding bodies and institutions at the local, regional and global levels, with the aim of exchanging experiences and conducting research related to the specializations of computers.
• Establish units of a special nature for specialized and advanced research in the field of computers.
