The Office of International Relations and Arab Universities Affairs announces a PhD scholarship at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Valencia (ETSE-UV), Spain, for non-EU candidates. The scholarship will be awarded for a four-year doctoral program on "Development of a Fermentation Biorefinery for Agro-Industrial Waste to Produce Bioalcohols as Feedstock for Sustainable Aviation Fuel." The scholarship is part of the Grisolia Competitive Research and Development Program of the Government of Valencia.
Research:
The PhD thesis will focus on the experimental study and optimization of the three stages of the biorefinery (upstream, midstream, and downstream) to enhance the conversion of alcohols to jet fuel using local agro-industrial waste.
Benefits:
Gross annual salary:
€24,300 per year during the first and second years.
€25,210 during the third year.
€31,000 for the fourth year.
In addition to an initial fixed amount of €1,600 to cover travel expenses to secure a permanent address in Valencia.
Required documents for application:
1. A university degree (Master's) in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Biotechnology, Environmental Sciences, Chemistry, or another discipline at the same level and branch. The Master's degree must be issued by a university outside the European Union.
2. The candidate's Master's degree must have been completed after January 2020.
3. The applicant must be eligible to enroll in a doctoral program in Spain and hold a university degree issued by a foreign education system outside the European Higher Education Area, equivalent to an official Spanish Master's degree, and qualifying for doctoral studies in the country where the degree was issued.
