Dr. Gamal Badr, Associate Professor, Department of Zoology, Faculty of Science,
Assiut University has found a treatment for wound healing defects in cases of
diabetic patients by using whey protein extracted from camel milk.
Dr. Badr explained that the mechanism of the process depends on improvement the
protein causes to the level of immune-cytokines in the blood as well as in the
wound area; a matter that helps in activating the immune-lymphocytes and improve
their immune function. This protein also helps in improving the functions of
macrophages cells in the wound area and consequently stimulates the healing of
decaying cells.
Dr. Badr published the results of his research in six papers in international
journals. It is also noteworthy that Dr. Badr has won the State Incentive Award
in Biological Sciences for the year 2012. With the number of more than 47
articles, Dr Badr has achieved a distinguished scientific status as member of
the American and Canadian Societies for immunology, and the American Hematology
Society. Besides he has been selected as a visiting professor at Ataturk
University , Turkey.
