Assiut University Holds “Loyalty Day” Ceremony to Honor and Commemorate the Pioneers of the South Egypt Cancer Institute in Recognition of Their Remarkable Contributions.

Under the patronage of Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, President of Assiut University, the university organized a distinguished event entitled “Loyalty Day: Unforgettable Contributions and Everlasting Remembrance” to honor and commemorate a number of prominent figures of the South Egypt Cancer Institute who had a prominent role in supporting the medical and research system and left a lasting humanitarian and scientific legacy that embodies a march of giving and dedication to serving patients and science.

The event was attended by Dr. Mahmoud Abdel Aleem, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; Dr. Mohamed Abu El-Magd, Dean of the Institute; Dr. Mohamed Ahmed Shalaby, former Chairman of the Institute’s Board; and Dr. Amr Farouk Murad, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs. The celebration also saw the participation of a distinguished group of faculty members, staff, and a large gathering of the honorees’ families.

Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy pointed out that the Loyalty Day celebration comes as an embodiment of the values of appreciation and gratitude towards scientific and humanitarian figures who contributed with their sincere efforts in building and developing the South Egypt Cancer Institute to become one of the most important medical edifices specialized in treating oncology in Upper Egypt.

Dr. El-Minshawy stressed that the university is keen to promote a culture of loyalty to all those who contributed to the advancement of its institutions, pointing out that honoring the late symbols is not just a moment of memorialization, but an extension of their message, and an incentive for future generations to continue giving with the same spirit and sincerity.

For his part, Dr. Mahmoud Abdel Aleem praised this honor, which comes within the framework of the university's keenness to promote the values of belonging and loyalty and appreciate the efforts of those who preceded us in serving the nation, adding that this day is an opportunity to renew the pledge to carry on the noble mission begun by these distinguished figures.

Dr. Mohamed Abu El-Magd expressed his deep appreciation for this thoughtful and humane gesture by the university’s administration, which embodies the true spirit of loyalty and sincerity. He affirmed that the Institute will never forget the names of those who helped establish and develop it, and that honoring them is a tribute to all values of dedication and generosity.

Dr. Mohamed Ahmed Shalaby reviewed the journey of the honored pioneers and their significant contributions to the Institute’s development and the enhancement of its medical, educational, and research services, affirming that their memory will forever remain in the Institute’s records and history.

The ceremony included the presentation of honorary shields to the families of: Dr. Khaled Mohamed Faris, Professor of Anesthesia, Intensive Care, and Pain Management, and former Dean of the Institute , Dr.  Mohamed Raafat, Professor of Clinical Pathology, Dr. Sahar Abdel Baky, Professor of Anesthesia, Intensive Care, and Pain Management ,Dr. Mostafa Abdel Wanis, Professor of Radiation Oncology , Dr. Mona Mahmoud Sayed, Professor of Radiation Oncology , Dr.  Mohamed Ibrahim, Professor of Radiation Oncology, Dr. Mohamed Mostafa, Professor of Anesthesia, Intensive Care, and Pain Management , Dr. Faten Wahid Feroz, Director of Pharmacies and Dr. Monica Baqtar Maher, Lecturer of Oncology ; in honor of their cherished memory and invaluable contributions.
