Under the patronage of Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, President of Assiut University, the General Administration of Talent Management and Development, in cooperation with the Faculty of Nursing and the University's Occupational Safety and Health Department, organized on Sunday, February 23, an awareness forum entitled: "First Aid during Crises and Disasters", whose activities extended throughout February 23 and 24, in the discussion hall of the university's administrative building, under the supervision of Dr. Mahmoud Abdel Aleem, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, and Professor Shawkat Saber, University Secretary, with the participation of about (68) employees from different departments from all sectors and colleges of the university.
Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, President of Assiut University, praised the awareness forum, which is one of the important events that comes within the framework of promoting occupational safety and health, as it aims to raise awareness and train individuals to deal with emergency situations and injuries that may occur in work environments or during crises and disasters, stressing that first aid is one of the basic skills that everyone must possess, especially in workplaces that may be exposed to accidents or health hazards that affect the safety of workers.
Dr. Mahmoud Abdul Aleem pointed out that the university administration is keen to organize awareness training courses for its employees periodically to enhance occupational safety and health standards within the facilities, by introducing how to act, prepare and be ready to face emergencies of various kinds, and familiarize with first aid skills, wishing all participants to benefit from the theme of the forum.
Dr. Nahed Shawkat, Vice Dean of the College of Nursing for Community Service and Environmental Development, explained that the training forum seeks to educate community members about the stages of first aid, how to deal with the injured as soon as possible and in the proper ways, and how to provide the initial and immediate care that a person receives as a result of sudden exposure to an emergency health condition; resulting in bleeding, wounds, fractures, choking, or fainting.
Mr. Shawkat Saber added that the university is keen to raise workers' awareness of the different types of crises that university workers can be exposed to during their work, in crisis management, and to provide them with communication and communication skills during crises, explaining that the training program includes a number of distinguished lecturers to discuss the crisis and how to manage it, and basic skills in first aid needed for risk management.
The forum comes under the supervision of Mr. Osama Al-Sayed, Assistant Secretary General of the University, Dr. Amany Mohamed Sherif, Advisor to the President for Strategic Planning Affairs and Supervisor of the Occupational Safety and Health Department, Dr. Samah Mohamed Abdullah, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, Mr. Abdul Qader Mehran, Head of the Central Administration for Human Resources, Mr. Khaled Omran, Director General of Talent Management and Development, and Mr. Ali Ahmed Omar, Director of the Occupational Safety and Health Department.
The forum includes a series of lectures by a number of specialists from the Faculty of Nursing on first aid, by Dr. Aya Kamal, Assistant Lecturer of Nursing Administration, airway obstruction, cardiac arrest and cardiopulmonary resuscitation, by Dr. Gehad Abdel-Magid, Assistant Lecturer of Internal and Surgical Nursing Department, poisoning and scorpion sting, by Dr. Hazem Taraf, Assistant Lecturer of Internal and Surgical Nursing Department, by Dr. Hazem Taraf, Assistant Lecturer of Internal and Surgical Nursing Department. The forum also discusses wounds and injuries to the chest and abdomen, by Dr. Reham Ahmed Kamal, Assistant Lecturer at the Department of Family and Community Health Nursing, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation, by Dr. Mohamed Abdel Mohaimen, Assistant Lecturer at the Department of Family and Community Health Nursing. Aya Salah El-Din is an educational mentor at the Department of Critical Care and Emergency at the Faculty of Nursing, Bleeding and Fractures by Dr. Samah Ashraf, Assistant Lecturer at the Department of Family and Community Health Nursing, and Burns by Dr. Mahmoud Fathy, Assistant Lecturer at the Department of Internal and Surgical Nursing at the Faculty of Nursing.
