Under the supervision of Prof. Ahmed El-Minshawy, the university offers a new set of educational programs that keep up with the latest medical systems. These programs aim to produce exceptional graduates able to meet the requirements of the global, regional, and local labor market.
The faculty of Medicine present the "5+2 competency-based credit hours" program, supervised by Prof. Ahmed Abdel Mawla, the Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Alaa Atiya, the Dean of the faculty of Medicine, and prof. Noha Abdel Halim Afifi, professor at Microbiology and Immunology Department and program coordinator.
The duration of the program to obtain a Bachelor's degree in Medicine and Surgery (five-year system) spans over ten academic semesters, divided into five levels, with each level consisting of two semesters.
Courses are achieved through lectures, laboratory work, field studies, specialized computer applications, case studies, study groups, workshops, projects, and cooperative learning methods.
Students are assessed using modern evaluation methods, including short tests, periodic exams, applications, individual and group assignments, observation, supervision, and student achievement files for theoretical and practical exams.
Throughout the program, students must complete 318 points of compulsory and elective faculty requirements, divided across the study levels.
Each student is assigned an assistant faculty member to monitor them during practical training. Students instructed according to foreign equivalent systems and prepared for equivalence exams. Their performance is evaluated using the GPA system, and the cumulative point average CGPA is calculated. Furthermore, students are can be transferred from any university to the Faculty of Medicine at Assiut University according to the program's specific system conditins .
