- Prof. El-Minshawy: Assiut University is keen to fulfill its developmental mission to the community and use specialized scientific competencies.
- Assiut University announced its harvest in the community service and environmental development sector during the first semester of the academic year 2024-2025, where Prof. Ahmed El-Minshawy, President of Assiut University, stressed the university's keenness to support awareness, perform its developmental and service mission to the community, and benefit from specialized scientific competencies in various fields and disciplines.
- Prof. Ahmed El-Minshawy, President of Assiut University, received a report submitted by Prof. Mahmoud Abdelalim, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, on what was implemented in the sector during the first academic year 2024-2025.
- The report pointed to the efforts of the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector, many events and activities that serve the community, implementing the “New Beginning for Human Building” initiative, where a variety of activities and events were implemented, including comprehensive medical, veterinary, agricultural and psychological counseling caravans, lectures, interactive workshops, and in cooperation with the governorate, civil society institutions, and developmental organizations.
- The report reviewed the organization of several scientific and awareness seminars that aim to promote public health and spread awareness in the community, to achieve sustainable development goals and support Egypt's 2030 vision: A workshop entitled “Blood-borne viruses: The Medical and Social Perspective, and a seminar on “Solar Energy. A gift to support sustainable development plans in Egypt”, a seminar on ‘Smoking between health and religion’, a seminar on ‘Awareness of malnutrition, obesity, and chronic diseases’, a seminar on ‘Artificial Intelligence and its relationship to health fields’, a seminar on ‘Civil protection, how to use fire extinguishers in emergency situations and evacuation methods’, in addition to an introductory day on the ‘Women's Economic and Social Empowerment Program’ within the activities of (16) Days to Combat Violence Against Women). funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), in cooperation with “Afddal” Association for Development in Assiut, and organizing an educational seminar, in cooperation with the “Abdul Latif Jameel” Poverty Action Lab in the Middle East and North Africa region at the American University entitled “Using Scientific Evidence in Public Policy Making,” which aimed to contribute to improving living conditions, alleviating poverty, and improving the quality of life for Egyptians.
- A training manual was launched to provide “social health counseling” in Assiut Governorate hospitals to educate visitors and visitors to hospitals about various diseases, methods of prevention, and health awareness in all its fields, and to facilitate the task of patients easily obtaining the necessary medical care. Field visits were organized for students to introduce students to the most prominent and important national projects within Assiut Governorate, including visiting the technological zone in the Smart Village in the new city of Assiut.

- The university also celebrated International Volunteer Day and organized a symposium entitled “Together... To build sustainable communities”, in addition to organizing a scientific day on ‘Nursing and Healthy Coexistence with Diabetes’; in celebration of World Diabetes Day, as well as organizing several seminars and scientific meetings on breast cancer awareness and the importance of early detection, in conjunction with the World Breast Cancer Awareness Month ‘Pink October’: Breast cancer awareness and the importance of early detection, coinciding with the global breast cancer awareness month “Pink October”, as well as the fifth anniversary of the presidential initiative to support the health of Egyptian women.
- The report also indicated the organization of a marketing exhibition for small projects offered by university graduates and Assiut governorate residents to provide family and student supplies, in cooperation with the Assiut branch of the Micro and Small Enterprises Development Agency (MSEDA), on the university's Al-Hadarat Street.
- The report also noted that several activities and educational events were organized as part of the “Ihna Min” initiative, in cooperation with the Yarrow Foundation for Egyptian Civilization and the Misr El-Khair Foundation, to instill Egyptian identity in children, develop their sense of belonging, introduce them to the great Egyptian civilization, and link it to contemporary achievements.
- The report also mentioned the organization of an awareness seminar on “The National Project for Literacy Eradication, Adult Education and Achieving Egypt's Vision 2030” which aimed to clarify the new axes of the Adult Education Authority including Functional education, functional skills, educational and awareness axis, in addition to the axis of how to coexist with the digital environment, understanding the new variables and employing them effectively, as well as organizing training courses for faculty members' assistants who are academic advisors in the literacy project at the university faculties, in cooperation with the General Authority for Adult Education, to eliminate illiteracy and support education for all.
