With Local Anesthesia Surgery Assiut University Hospital Rescues the Life of An Elderly Woman by Treating Her Carotid Artery

Prof. Ahmed El-Menshawi, Dean of Assiut University Faculty of Medicine, and Chairman of the Board of Directors, Assiut University Hospitals, announced the success of the hospital in rescuing the life of a 66-year-old woman with a severe stroke caused by a 90% narrowing in the right carotid artery. For the first time, in Upper Egypt, the patient was given local anesthesia and was therefore awake and consciousness during the surgery.
