Prof. El-Minshawy launches the tenth annual International Conference of the Department of Rheumatology and Rehabilitation at the Faculty of Medicine, Assiut University 

The president of Assiut University confirms the University's commitment to supporting the health system and improving the quality of health services provided by the vision of "Egypt 2030"

Prof. Ahmed El-Minshawy, president of Assiut University, launched today, Wednesday, December 11, the tenth annual International Conference of the Department of Rheumatology and Rehabilitation at the Faculty of Medicine at the University, which is organized by the department; in cooperation with the Egyptian society of Rheumatic Diseases, in the presence of Dr. Ahmed Abdel-Mawla, vice president of the University for education and Student Affairs, Dr. Jamal Badr, vice president of the University for graduate studies and research, Dr. Alaa Attiyah, dean of the Faculty of Medicine and chairman of the Council of University Hospitals, Dr. Khalid Abdulaziz, director of the University Hospital, Dr. Zahra Dr. Marwa Ahmed is the Secretary General of the conference. 

The conference was also attended by Dr. Amani Omar, vice dean of the Faculty of medicine for graduate studies and research, Dr. Mohammed Abdul Rahman, vice dean of the Faculty of medicine for education and Student Affairs, Dr. Hoda Makhlouf, vice dean of the Faculty of medicine for community service and Environmental Development, Dr. Mohammed Zain, undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, and a selection of professors and doctors from various Egyptian universities.

During his speech, prof. El-Minshawy stressed the importance of the conference as a distinguished scientific platform, which brings together experts in immunological rheumatic diseases and seeks to enable doctors to keep up with the latest developments in the field of healthcare, provide an opportunity to exchange experiences, build professional networks; contribute to improving the quality of medical education.

 The president of Assiut University explained that the conference is an important pillar within the initiative "A New Beginning to Build a Human Being", which was launched by His Excellency President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi for human development, to implement various programs, activities, services, reach a healthy community, lifting the burden on citizens and providing support to all groups within society, within the framework of a comprehensive strategy for human development, in line with the vision of "Egypt 2030".

 Prof. El-Minshawy thanked His Excellency President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi for his continuous support for health and human development issues, which he has placed at the top of his priorities, within the framework of a broader goal of providing a decent life for the Egyptian citizen.

  The president of Assiut University stressed the University's commitment to support the health system and achieving Egypt's Vision 2030 in improving the quality of health services provided; in support of the efforts of the state of June 30 and the New Republic in various directions, through supporting important scientific conferences, as they provide an opportunity to exchange experiences, learn about the latest medical developments, enhance cooperation between doctors and researchers, and discuss the best ways to treat diseases.

Prof. El-Minshawy praised the fruitful cooperation and integration between Assiut University - the Department of Rheumatology and Rehabilitation at the Faculty of Medicine - and the Rheumatic Society in Cairo; to discuss issues of utmost importance related to cortisone medication and its impact on immune rheumatic diseases, blood diseases, and similar, aids-like immune diseases, and biological treatment in immune rheumatic diseases.

For his side, Dr. Alaa Attiyah stressed that the Department of Rheumatology and Rehabilitation at the Faculty of Medicine is one of the vital medical departments that interact with many common diseases of various age groups, which vary and vary in their severity, causes of infection, as well as cooperation and participation with various departments and other medical specialties, calling on professors and doctors of the department to higher rates of recovery.

Through her speech, Dr. Zahra Abu Al Oyoun welcomed the guests of the University participating in the activities of the tenth edition of the conference from various Egyptian universities, which includes - over the course of two days-(7) scientific sessions, discussing everything new in rheumatology and Immunology, the similarities of Rheumatic Diseases, the role of the new biological therapy in healing them, and getting acquainted with the latest developments in pediatric rheumatism, as held on the sidelines of the conference; a workshop discussing the "therapeutic sound wave device", explaining: over the past years, the joint efforts of its members have been a milestone in specialty conferences, discussing everything new in various immunological and rheumatological diseases, and their significant overlap with other medical specialties, which has allowed more scientific cooperation in a practical manner with many specialties, scientific, clinical, and research projects; to upgrade the therapeutic service for patients, and cooperation with various medical specialties.

Dr. Zahra Abu Al Oyoun reviewed the services and activities of the department, which included: providing diagnostic and therapeutic services to rheumatic and immunological patients attending outpatient clinics, which in 2024 amounted to about (3000) cases, and (13000) cases at state expense; to dispensing traditional and biological medicines, and the internal department after the development witnessed a surge in performance; in terms of the quality of cases treated and followed up by the department, which has a clinical capacity of (30) beds; for accurate diagnosis and modern treatment of more than (900) patients in 2024, the department also includes several specialized units, namely; physiotherapy sessions unit, muscle drawing, and nerve conduction unit, ultrasound examination unit of the motor, nervous and muscular system, and a specialized unit for capillary examination for cases of rheumatic diseases.
The conference activities also witnessed honoring and dedicating the conference shield to prof. Ahmed El-Minshawy for his continuous support of all conference activities.
