As part of its continuous efforts to expand its specialized academic offerings, the Faculty of Science at Assiut University is pleased to announce the launch of a new academic program in Petroleum Geology for the 2025/2026 academic year. The program is part of the university’s strategic plan to modernize and develop its academic programs in line with local and global labor market needs, and to support the national vision for a more advanced and future-ready higher education system.

The program is launched under the auspices of Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, President of Assiut University, and is supervised by Dr. Abdel-Hamid Abu Shahlay, Dean of the Faculty of Science, and Dr. Galal El-Habbak, Program Coordinator.

Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy emphasized the university’s commitment to supporting specialized disciplines that contribute to national development, praising the Faculty of Science for its pioneering role in offering innovative programs built on strong academic and professional partnerships. He also noted that this program represents a significant addition to the university’s offerings and will help prepare highly qualified professionals in the fields of energy and natural resources.

The program aims to prepare graduates with strong competencies in the field of petroleum geology. Upon completion, students will be awarded a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Geology. Enrollment is available starting from either the first or second academic year, and admission is open to students from the Science and Mathematics tracks of Egypt’s General Secondary Education.

The program benefits from the support of several petroleum companies through formal cooperation agreements with the university. In addition, the Department of Geology has signed a scientific agreement with the Faculty of Petroleum and Natural Gas in the Russian Federation to provide international training opportunities for students.

The program qualifies its graduates to work in petroleum companies, applied geology, and natural resource exploration, enabling them to become effective contributors to the labor market and capable of meeting the increasing demands of this vital sector.
