Prof.El-Minshawy: Assiut University is at the forefront of Egyptian and Arab universities in the fields of computer, engineering, life sciences, and physical and Medical Sciences. For the first time in the Social Sciences
Prof. Ahmed El-Minshawy, president of Assiut University, announced a new achievement recently achieved by the University in the field of international rankings, by including it in the list of the best universities in the world in(6) scientific disciplines; this came according to what was announced by the British times classification of scientific disciplines in its latest issue for 2025.
Prof. Ahmed El-Minshawy revealed that the British Times classification of scientific specialties placed Assiut University - for the first time in the field of Social Sciences ranked (801-1000) globally،
The university also received the rank (601-800) in the field of Computer Science, the rank (601-800) in the field of Engineering Sciences, the rank (601-800) in the field of life sciences, and the rank (601-800) in the field of Physical Sciences،
And the rank (801-1000) in the field of Medical Sciences.
Prof. Ahmed El-Minshawy explained that this achievement is the culmination of the University's tireless efforts to promote scientific research and international publishing, as they are one of the main axes of international rankings, which contributed to enhancing the University's reputation and highlighting its position among higher education institutions at the regional and international levels.
Dr. Jamal Badr, vice president for graduate studies and Research Affairs, pointed out that this progress reflects the University's commitment to applying its policy to improve its research outputs, raise and build the scientific and research capabilities of young researchers, stressing on continuing academic and research development processes and achieving more achievements at the local and international levels, which contributes to strengthening the University's position as a leading scientific and research institution.
For his side, Dr. Omar Shaaban, director of the International Academic Classification Office, explained that the British Times classification is based on (5) criteria, including; (13) an indicator, namely; scientific citations, the research impact of the University, the number and reputation of research, income from it, in addition to the educational environment, and the results of Thomson Reuters questionnaires to measure the research and educational reputation of universities with the participation of (20,000) researchers and scientists, adding that the number of doctoral degrees awarded by the university is calculated, taking into account the number of faculty members, the diversity of specialties at the University, the percentage of the ratio of graduate students to undergraduate students, reflecting the activity of the research environment at the University, the income and budget of the university.
