Assiut University Associate Professor Discovers a New Treatment for Wound Healing Defects for Diabetic Patients

Dr. Gamal Badr, Associate Professor, Department of Zoology, Faculty of Science, Assiut University has found a treatment for  wound healing defects in cases of diabetic patients by using whey protein extracted from camel milk. Dr. Badr explained that the mechanism of the process depends on improvement the protein causes to  the level of immune-cytokines in the blood as well as in the wound area; a matter that helps in activating the immune-lymphocytes and improve their immune function. This protein also helps in improving the functions of macrophages cells in the wound area and consequently stimulates the healing of decaying cells.   Dr. Badr published the results of his research in six papers in international journals. It is also noteworthy that Dr. Badr has won the State Incentive Award in Biological Sciences for the year 2012. With the number of more than 47 articles, Dr Badr has achieved a distinguished scientific status as member of the American and Canadian Societies for immunology, and the American Hematology Society. Besides he has been selected as a visiting professor at Ataturk University , Turkey.
