Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, president of Assiut University, announced that the university has a new achievement in the field of international rankings, as it ranked 427th globally in the US News American rankings this year, out of 2551 universities listed, achieving a remarkable progress of 62 positions compared to the previous year.
In his statement, Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy expressed his pride in this new progress, which is the result of the efforts of the university administration and its research system, pointing out that the university continues to work to strengthen its international position in various academic classifications, reflecting the quality of education and scientific research at Assiut University, and emphasizes its tireless pursuit of excellence and leadership in various fields.
For his side, Dr. Gamal Badr, vice president for graduate studies and Research Affairs, stressed that this achievement reflects the continuous support given by the university administration to the scientific research system, praising the effective and distinguished participation of the University's students in conducting research in various fields, which directly contributes to supporting comprehensive development plans in accordance with Egypt's Vision 2030.
Dr. Omar Shaaban, director of the international academic classification office at the University, explained that the US News rating is one of the most important global rankings, as it relies on 13 indicators to assess the performance of universities, including: global research reputation (12.5%), regional research reputation (12.5%), scientific publishing (10%), books (2.5%), conferences (2.5%), citation impact rate (10%), total citations (7.5%), publications within the top 10% in terms of citations (12.5%), their percentage of total publications (10%), international collaborations (5%), the number of highly cited papers that are among the top 1% of papers cited in the field of specialization (5%), the percentage of total publications that are among the top top 1% of research papers (5%).
Dr. Amr Abu fedan pointed out that this progress comes within the framework of Assiut University's strategy to strengthen the International Classification of the University, which the International Classification Office is working to implement under the slogan: "We deserve the best", through the integration and cooperation of all colleges and research centers to achieve a position worthy of the University's potential and scientific leadership.
