Major Gen. Ibrahim Hammad, Governor of Assiut, Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Samiea, Assiut
University President, and presidents of the Egyptian Universities, HE Minister
of Higher Education, Dr Al-Sayed Abdel- Khaleq made a check-visit touring inside
Assiut University Hospitals. Dr. Adel Rayan, Assiut University Vice President
for Education and Students Affairs, Dr. Hassan Salah, Vice President for
community Service and Environment Development, Dr. Tharwat Abdel-Aal, Law
Counselor of the President, Mr. Mahmoud Shaker, the University’s General
Secretary, and the Executive Directors of University Hospitals accompanied the
Minister in his tour inside the hospitals.
The visit of the
Minister and his company included a number of specialized hospitals such as
Al-Rajhi Liver Hospital, Urology, neurology and psychology hospital, Injuries
Unit, and the Cardiology Center to check the distinguished medical service
provided to millions of patients throughout the Upper Egyptian Provinces, and to
make an assessment of the requirements of these hospitals to upgrade them to the
international standards. Of the urgent demands id the need to solve the problem
of nursing, a demand for competitive projects for quality and development, and
an activation of the protocols of cooperation between the hospitals and the
Ministry of Health.
First, the company
visited Al-Rajhi Liver Hospital. Al-Rajhi hospital is the first of its kind and
the largest medical institution for Liver in Upper Egypt. It was established
with a contribution from Al-Rajhi Saudi Est. as part of the distinguished
relationships tying the university with fraternal Arabs. The total establishment
cost of the hospital was 130 million Egyptian Pounds. The hospital includes 200
patient beds, 6 clinical offices, reception department, diagnostic
gastrointestinal endoscopy units, Intensive care units, remedial labs, CT
radiology department, and the catheter unit which is an intervention radio-based
for simultaneous diagnosis and treatment, lately obtaining a license to do
liver-transplantation surgeries within two months time in collaboration with a
team from Ain Shams University.
The
company then moved to the Neurological and Psychological Hospital which receives
large numbers of people suffering from various mental disorders. It was lately
furnished with 7 new surgical rooms highly equipped with advanced remedial
programs and tools to perform minute brain operations. The visitors then moved
to the Urological Hospital which includes about 350 patient beds, 9 intensive
care rooms and dialysis units. Next came the visit to the injury hospital which
one of the most significant medical centers that the university does a great
effort to develop to face the increasing numbers of the various injuries. It
encompasses 400 patient beds with necessary medical appendices. The tour last
came to the Cardiology Center which was established with co-fund from the Orman
Association. It is scheduled to start next year with 350 patient bed capacity
and a prospect for by-pass surgeries.
