The Council of Assiut University, chaired by prof. Ahmed El-manshawi, held its monthly meeting, today, Sunday, December 29, in the presence of: vice-rectors of the university, deans of colleges, advisers to the president of the University, and the Secretary General of the university; to discuss a number of topics related to the educational, research, and service process.

El-Minshawy extended sincere congratulations to His Excellency President Abdel Fattah al - Sisi, president of the Republic, and the masses of the Egyptian people - on behalf of the Assiut University Council-on the occasion of the approaching New Year 2025, and also congratulated the Coptic brothers, coinciding with the approach of Christmas, Wishing it to be a happy year, and bring good to the whole world, and to our beloved Egypt.
The University Council extended its sincere condolences and condolences on the death of Dr. Khaled fares, acting dean of the southern Egypt Institute of oncology, and professor Doaa Shehata, a lecturer at the Faculty of specific education, and one of the victims of the derout accident, calling on the Almighty to shower them with his mercy and forgiveness.
The council also offered its sincere condolences to the families of the victims of the Deirat and Al-Qusayya accidents, asking the Almighty to inspire their families and relatives with patience and fortitude.
The president of Assiut University directed the need to adhere to the system of first semester exams, taking into account the nature of each faculty and the study system, in order to ensure the highest degree of objectivity in assessing the student, and measuring his abilities to understand and distinguish, coinciding with the beginning of the marathon of the end of the first semester exams, according to the time map set by the Supreme Council of universities.
The council appreciated the remarkable development in the works of major construction projects being carried out at the university, including the new University oncology hospital, the new university headquarters in the new city of Assiut, the internal and external finishing works of the Faculty of early childhood education, in addition to the renovations of multiple sports stadiums at the Faculty of Sports Sciences.
The Council of Assiut University reviewed the most important activities and notable events during the month of December, the most important of which are: the University's inclusion among the best Arab universities in the British times classification of Arab Universities for the year 2024, and Assiut University offers 168 A level within a year in the English classification of Sustainable Development Standards 2025 QS sustainability, in addition to its inclusion for the first time in the Arab classification of universities for the year 2024.
The council appreciated Prof. Ahmed El-Minshawy's meeting with Major General Dr. Hisham Abu Al-Nasr, and discussed aspects of cooperation to support the Assiut community, as well as his meeting with the student union at Assiut state and private universities, in its new formation for the academic year 2024/ 2025.
The council praised the signing of a cooperation protocol with the Arab African International Bank to develop University Hospitals, and the signing of Assiut University Hospitals and Assiut Al-Ahlia University to provide medical insurance service for Al-Ahlia students.
The Council of Assiut University appreciated that the university hospitals laboratories received the accreditation of the American College of pathologists CAP, as the first laboratories at the level of Egyptian public and private universities to succeed in obtaining this accreditation.
The council appreciated Assiut University's clear contributions to national initiatives, foremost of which is the "Bidaya" initiative through several measures, including awareness lectures, and the organization of many comprehensive development convoys to many of the most needy areas and villages in various centers in Assiut Governorate.
The Council of Assiut University praised the conclusion of the first version of the empowerment of people of determination initiative, the "beginning" Forum in implementation of the Presidential Initiative, a new beginning for Human building, the launch of the activities of The (100 Sports Day) initiative in cooperation with the Egyptian sports federation for universities, as well as the launch of the activities of the sectors Volleyball League, with the participation of the alliance of Universities of the central upper region.
The council also praised the celebration of Assiut University on the International Anti-Corruption Day, and the launch of the governance and anti-corruption training program for administrative cadres at the University, in cooperation with the Administrative Control Authority.
In addition, Professor John Michel and Professor Troy Hopper received a professor of physiotherapy within the framework of scientific cooperation between Assiut University and the American University of Texas, as well as a consultant in neurosurgery at Kuopio University in Finland, within the framework of joint cooperation between the two sides.
The Council of Assiut University congratulated the University's students of determination, the winners of the sports meeting (the Egyptian universities Paralympics for students with disabilities) and won (20) a medal, as well as congratulating the team of students of the Faculty of computing and information in the Arab-African Championship ACPC; supported by the innovators and springs sponsorship fund.
The council approved the memorandum of understanding between Assiut University and the University of Namibia, as well as the protocol of cooperation between the Faculty of Nursing of Assiut University and the children's cancer hospital Egypt 57357, and the council also approved the protocol of cooperation between the African International Bank and Assiut University Hospitals.
The council approved the opening of diplomas (Structural Engineering, Irrigation, hydraulics and water resources, and Public Works Engineering) at the Department of civil engineering at the Faculty of Engineering in the second semester of the academic year 2024/2025.
The council approved the increase of the financial remuneration for the examination work starting from the year 2024/2025 for the Masters of professional services(printing, carpentry, electricity, plumbing) participating in the examination work.
The council also approved the appointment of professors, assistant professors and teachers in various faculties of the University, and the adoption of regulations governing the educational process in various sectors of the University.
The council also approved the selection of members nominated by the University Council to nominate applicants for the post of Dean of the Faculty of science, veterinary medicine, education, nursing, sports sciences, social service, and Early Childhood Education, headed by Dr. Ahmed Al-manshawi, and resulted in the selection of Dr. Mohammed Abdulazim Talab (core member), Dr. Hassan Abdul Latif Abu Al-Ola (core member), and Dr. Mohammed Abdul Monem Bakr (Reserve member).
