The board of Directors of the Integrated Technology Transfer Unit (ITTU) at Assiut University held its regular meeting today, Tuesday, May 20, under the chairmanship of Dr. Ahmed Al-manshawi, president of the University and chairman of the board of Directors of the unit, in order to follow up the progress of work and discuss a number of topics related to the current activities of the unit and its future plans.
At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Ahmed Al-manshawi stressed that the Integrated Technology Transfer Unit is working to link scientific research with the needs of industry and society, by supporting innovation and entrepreneurship pathways, and encouraging the transformation of research ideas and outputs into actionable and applicable products and services.
During his chairmanship of the board meeting of the unit, he pointed out the University's keenness to develop the unit's performance and expand the scope of its activities, in a way that enhances its role in incubating emerging projects, providing technical and advisory support to researchers and innovators, and providing a university environment stimulating creativity, stressing that this is in line with the University's vision to support the knowledge economy and effectively contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
Dr. Al-manshawi stressed that the University seeks to achieve cooperation with all entities and bodies concerned with supporting creativity and innovation in various fields, especially in the fields of agricultural manufacturing, handicrafts, and small and medium-sized industries, because of their pivotal role in supporting the local economy.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Ahmed abdulmoula, vice-president of the University for education and Student Affairs, Dr. Jamal Badr, vice-president of the University for graduate studies and research, Dr. Mahmoud Abdulalim, vice-president of the University for community service and environmental development, Chancellor Abdul Razek Othman, legal adviser of Assiut University, vice-president of the State Council, Professor Shawkat saber, Secretary General of the University, Dr. Khalid Salah, dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Mohammed Abbas, general supervisor of the Integrated Technology Transfer Unit, Dr. Hamad Abu Zeid Mohammed, director of the research and development sector of the unit, Mr. Mohammed Amin Salama, director general of accounts and budget at the University, and Mr. Mohammed Farouk, Director General of the Office of the president of the University for graduate studies and Research Affairs.
The meeting witnessed the discussion of a number of topics related to the activities of the Integrated Technology Transfer Unit and the services it provides, especially in the field of training programs, in addition to reviewing Future Visions and proposals aimed at developing mechanisms and work systems within the unit.
The meeting also touched upon the revision of some articles of the financial regulations of the unit, in line with its development vision and meets the current developments and needs, in order to achieve the maximum possible benefit and serve the objectives of the unit and enhance the effectiveness of its performance.
The meeting also included approving the appointment of Dr. Nasma Ahmed Hashmat as marketing director of the unit, appointing Dr. Hamad Abu Zaid as director of the research and development sector, and appointing a new managing director of the unit.
The meeting also witnessed Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy honoring Professor Mohammed Farouk, director of the vice President of the University for graduate studies and Research Affairs office, and the former administrative director of the unit, in recognition of his outstanding efforts during his tenure in the administrative functions of the unit.
