Dr. El-Minshawy: Assiut National University is keen to enable its students to participate effectively in student activities and develop their integrated skills
Assiut National University, under the patronage of Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, president of Assiut University and Commissioner for business management at Assiut National University, is participating in the activities of the first edition of the Alamein championship for Egyptian universities, which is hosted by the Egyptian University of Al-Alamein in cooperation with the Alamein City Development Authority, during the period from August 2 to 7, 2025, with the wide participation of public, private, and technological universities.
The tournament is held under the supervision of Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of higher education and scientific research, and within the support of Student Activities sector at the ministry and the Institute for preparing leaders, led by Dr. Karim Hammam, advisor to the minister and director of the institute, within the framework of the national strategy for developing the capabilities of university youth, and supporting student activities as a tool to build integrated personality and enhance interaction between students of Egyptian universities.
Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy expressed his pride in the participation of Assiut National university students in this unique student experience, stressing that the university is keen to enable its students to interact with their peers from various universities, and develop their skills through student activities, in a way that enhances their awareness and contributes to build their personalities in an integrated manner.
The president of Assiut University added that the new city of El Alamein represents an advanced cultural model that reflects the vision of the state in creating smart cities that embrace youth and student events, and contribute to link urban and Human Development.
Assiut National University is the only representative of Upper Egypt universities in this tournament, and its delegation includes (11) students from various colleges, under the supervision of Dr. Nobi Mohammed Hassan, vice president of Assiut National University for Academic Affairs, and accompanied by Dr. Shirin Abdel Ghaffar, program coordinator at the Faculty of Alsun and applied languages at Assiut Al-National University.
For his side, Dr. Noobi Mohamed Hassan explained that the University's participation in the championship included three sports, namely: football pentathlon with the participation of (6) students, beach volleyball with the participation of two students, and padel tennis with the participation of (3) students, pointing out that this participation comes within the University's plan to support students and represent them in various activities at the level of the Republic.
In a related context, Dr. Shirin Abdel Ghaffar stressed that the championship is a rich and integrated experience for university students, as it combines sports competition, cultural exchange and field visits, which contributes to refining the student's personality and expanding his horizon.
She added that the students of the University have shown great commitment and positive interaction since the start of the events, and that they represent the University in an honorable way, which reflects the quality of preparation and the educational vision adopted by the private university in caring for its students.
The opening ceremony was attended by a number of leaders, including Dr. Nashat Al-Wakil, president of the Egyptian university in El Alamein, Dr. Karim Hammam, advisor to the minister of higher education and director of the Institute for preparing leaders, engineer Ahmed Ibrahim, head of the El Alamein City Authority, as well as representatives of participating Egyptian universities.
The tournament started with the presentation of the queue of participating universities, and the competitions include several sports, including: football pentathlon, table tennis, beach volleyball, in addition to a running marathon. The events will also include field visits to historical sites in the city of Alamein, including the War Museum, World War cemeteries, as well as entertainment activities on the beaches of the city, and a dinner party with a distinctive Bedouin character.
The championship is a stepping stone towards the establishment of annual sports events in El Alamein city, to enhance the role of student activities as a basic pillar in university life, and an important tributary in shaping the awareness of Egyptian university students.
