Professor El-Menshawy, President of Assiut University, inaugurated today, Wednesday, July 29, the Measurement and Research Laboratory for Physical and Motor Rehabilitation and Sports Health at the Faculty of Sport Sciences and the Women's Prayer Room, as part of the university's keenness to develop the educational and research infrastructure, and support scientific and practical capabilities in a way that contributes to improving the educational process, scientific research, and community service.
The opening was attended by Dr. Emad Samir Mahmoud, Dean of the College of Sport Sciences, Dr. Yasser Hassan, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, Dr. Ahmed Khodari, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research, Dr. Mustafa Al-Sibai, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Dr. Ahmed Salah Qara'a, General Supervisor of the Olympic Village at the University, along with a group of heads of departments and faculty members at the College of Sport Sciences.
Professor El-Menshawy stressed that the opening of the laboratory comes within the framework of the university's plan to support colleges with advanced research laboratories that contribute to the development of the educational system, promote applied scientific research, and provide an integrated scientific environment based on the latest technologies, which contributes to preparing graduates who possess the necessary competency and skills to meet the requirements of the labor market, in addition to enhancing the societal role of the university by providing specialized scientific and applied services.
The President of the University explained that the laboratory represents a qualitative addition to the College of Sport Sciences, as it provides physical and functional measurement and evaluation
services, supports physical and motor rehabilitation and sports injuries programs, conducts measurements and strength research, as well as supports applied research in the fields of sports health using the latest technologies, to serve the college's students, graduate researchers, athletes, and the external community.
The laboratory includes sports massage machines, electronic pressure and pulse meters, body composition meters, trampolines, a balance platform, step bench, weights of different weights, rubber sticks, total body resistance device, an oxygen meter, glucose meter, lactic meter, and grip strength device.
The laboratory contributes to linking theoretical study with practical application, preparing qualified professional cadres for the labor market, supporting applied research in the fields of sports injuries, physical and motor rehabilitation, and sports health, as well as providing community services that include designing motor rehabilitation programs, rehabilitating posture deviations, and cooperating with sports clubs and specialized hospitals to apply the results of research in practice, in a way that contributes to the prevention of injuries and improving public health.
On a related note, professor Ahmed El-Minshawy inaugurated the women's prayer hall at the College of Sport Sciences, which was established and equipped with self-efforts to provide a suitable place for female students, faculty members and workers at the college, within the framework of the university's keenness to complete and develop service facilities, and provide an integrated university environment that meets the needs of its members, and promotes a university climate that combines academic excellence with the provision of services that support the educational process.
Following the opening, Dr. Emad Samir, Dean of the Faculty of Sport Sciences, presented the faculty's shield and a souvenir gift to Professor El-Menshawy, in appreciation of his career full of giving, his sincere efforts in leading Assiut University, and his achievements that contributed to supporting the university's march and enhancing its academic and research position.
For his part, Professor Ahmed El-Menshawy expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to the Faculty of Sport Sciences family, stressing his pride in the development achieved by the College in various fields, and appreciating the efforts of faculty members and workers in improving the educational and research process, and wishing the College continued progress and excellence.
Dr. Emad Samir Mahmoud praised the continuous support provided by professor Ahmed Al-Menshawy to the Faculty of Sport Sciences throughout his presidency of the university, stressing that the college witnessed a qualitative leap during his tenure that included developing infrastructure, raising the efficiency of facilities and stadiums, supporting educational and research capabilities, and upgrading the administrative system, in addition to his constant keenness to meet the needs of the college and its affiliates. He also praised the development and high-end humanitarian vision of his leadership, which made him close to everyone, and left a clear imprint that will continue to be appreciated and cherished by the College of Sport Sciences Family.
