Master Degree

Assiut University grants, upon the request of the faculty board, MSc degrees in the following specializations:

  1. Science and technology of sugar industry.
  2. Industrial biotechnology.
  3. Environmental sciences and pollution remediation.
  4. Science and technology of pulp, paper and board industry.

For a student to register for a MSc degree in one of the specializations mentioned above, the following is required:

  1. For students who have obtained a bachelor’s degree from the Faculty of Sugar and Integrated Industries Technology, they are registered for a master’s degree directly, provided that the student passes a preliminary year in the required specialization with a grade of at least as a condition for registration for a master’s degree.
  2. For graduates of other corresponding institutions, they must have obtained one of the postgraduate diplomas from the faculty in the field of specialization or its equivalent from another recognized scientific institution, with a grade of at least good.
  3. The student submits an application for registration to the dean of the faculty, who refers it to the concerned department to choose the supervisory committee, which determines the field and title of the research. Then, after completing all the papers, the matter is presented to the Faculty Board.
  4. Supervising professors, assistant professors and teachers from among the faculty members in universities and various research centers who are specialized in the field of study. An industrialist with great experience in the field of specialization may participate in the supervision, by a decision of the Faculty Board. Supervision is strengthened by one of the professors or assistant professors in If the main supervisor is absent for a period of more than a year abroad for any reason, the number of supervisors must not be more than three and not less than two. Supervision can be strengthened with a fourth in case of need for his specialization, and a fifth in the case of joint supervision with a foreign supervisor, after the approval of the University Board.
  5. To submit the approval of the employer for registration and full-time employment for at least two days a week.
  6. The student submits his complete and completed papers at the beginning of September of each year, and registration takes place at the beginning of October.
  7. That the student conducts a research on the subject whose field was previously determined upon enrollment, determines the title of the research, fills out the registration form, and approves it from the department, faculty and university, and submits the research results by letter. The degree is not awarded before two years have passed since enrollment.
  8. After completing the preparation of the thesis, the student presents a public discussion on its subject, to which the specialized industrialists are invited, and then the supervisor submits a report on whether the thesis is valid for presentation to the judging committee. If it decides Its validity, the Faculty Board, based on a proposal from the relevant Department Board, forms a tripartite committee to judge the thesis from the supervisors and two members of professors or specialized industrialists, provided that at least one of them is from outside the university, the discussion must be public and take place at the faculty headquarters.
  9. The judging committee may return the letter to its presenter to complete what it deems to be a deficiency and give him an opportunity to do so, provided that it does not exceed six months from the date of the discussion.
  10. The Department Board, and the approval of the Faculty Board and the University Board, may offer a number of courses that serve the field of specialization.

The student’s registration for a MSc degree is canceled in the following cases:

  1. If he did not obtain a master’s degree within five years from the date of his registration, unless the Faculty Board decided to keep the registration for another period determined by it based on the proposal of the supervisor and the relevant Department Board.
  2. If he exhausts the failure times in the exams prescribed in accordance with the provisions of Article (10), in the event that the student is given courses to study.
  3. If the supervisors submit a request for a reasoned apology, it will be accepted by the Department Board and the Faculty Board.
  4. If the judging committee rejects the message outright.
  5. If the student submits a request to cancel his registration.
