The activities and achievements of the unit

  First: Institutional Capacity:
 1 - The strategic plan

1- An approved, documented and announced strategic plan linked to the university plan.
2- The faculty vision and mission, and specific mechanisms for periodic review of the vision and mission, have been updated and approved.
3- Various policies for the college in the fields of education, scientific research, community service and financial policies.
4- An implementation plan, action plan to implement the college’s strategy, which was prepared by the college. It covers the college’s strategic goals and objectives, and includes the priorities, activities and tasks required to be implemented. It includes mechanisms to implement these activities and tasks, and has a precise definition of the responsibilities for implementing the activities and tasks included in the plan. The plan includes the timetable for implementation.
5- Indicators for evaluation. The plan includes actions or decisions related to risk management. The implementation plan has been translated into an estimated financial budget in which the link between the college’s strategy and the university’s strategy is taken into account.
6- Identifying the competitive position and the competitive features and their role in community service.

  2- Organizational Structure:

1- Study the approved current organizational structure and its suitability for the nature of the college’s activity.
2- Creating some new units such as community service and the Crisis and Disaster Management Unit.
3- Add some special units within the college structure.
4- The current organizational structure of the college is clearly characterized by lines of authority and specifying the terms of reference for each of its members. The college is administered by its council established in accordance with the law organizing universities.
5- The structure of the college is based on delegation of authorities.
6- A specialized department in the college to deal with crises and disasters.
7 - The college has a unit for quality assurance and accreditation, and it has an approved and documented organizational structure, and it has a bylaw approved by the College Board.

  3 - Leadership and Governance:

1- Approved and announced criteria for selecting academic and administrative leaders.
2- The college adopts a democratic leadership style that encourages participation, opinion and freedom of criticism and innovation.
3- A training plan provided by the college in order to develop the administrative skills of academic leaders. Specific procedures are also used to implement programs / training courses for academic leaders. These procedures are announced on the university’s website and approved.
4- The trainees' opinions of all training programs are surveyed by those in charge of the training process, before and after training.
5- Documentation is done by registering on databases and MIS programs.
6- Supporting internal quality systems by providing an appropriate and equipped place with qualified and trained cadres, and the college provides moral support to the director of the quality unit and employees.
7- The plan for developing self-resources and the leadership’s role in developing self-financing and interacting with the productive sectors.


  4- Credibility and Ethics:

1- The College is committed to intellectual property and publishing rights within the limits of the rules governing this.
2- An ethical charter for professional ethics and scientific research has been established, and there are specific and announced procedures to ensure justice and non-discrimination between faculty members, the assisting body, and students.
3- Complaints and suggestions are dealt with and there is a specific mechanism in place to examine these complaints and suggestions and deal with them.
4- An announced, documented and approved plan clarifying the competencies of the various parties in the college, and all faculty employees are committed to the ethics of the job.
5- The college provides information that covers its various activities to some extent. This is done through its website, college directory, bulletins, the college’s periodic report, wall panels, seminars and scientific conferences.


  5 - The administrative apparatus:

1- The college determines the training needs of employees on a regular basis and uses mechanisms to implement them, and the distribution of available human resources in accordance with the actual needs.
2- A tool for developing academic leadership skills.
3- Providing a healthy climate in the buildings and the necessary equipment for work is available
4- Incentives / rewards are linked to performance levels
5- The college uses evaluation systems to evaluate the performance of employees, and the college is concerned with measuring the level of job satisfaction for administrative leaders and employees.


  6- Financial and material resources:

1- The financial resources represented in the annual budget allocated to the college by the university are sufficient - to some extent - to achieve its mission, goals and strategic objectives. In addition to the budget allocated by the university, the college benefits from the income of units of a special nature and farm revenues with its various activities.
2- The area of ​​the buildings is commensurate with the needs of the college and the practice of its educational and research activities in terms of design and space. The college has 4 runways, 36 research laboratories, 2 libraries, and 2 farms, one of them attached to the college with an area of ​​120 acres, and the other in the Assiut Valley with an area of ​​200 acres.
3- The college buildings are characterized by cleanliness and give a sense of beauty, such as ventilation, natural lighting. All college buildings, including terraces and teaching halls, enjoy ventilation and natural and industrial lighting.
4- The existence of a maintenance unit and there is a documented plan to support and maintain the college’s infrastructure. Coordination with the university’s administration is made to use the university’s playgrounds and theater to practice various student activities.
5- A place has been allocated and equipped with appropriate sports equipment for practicing some student activities for the college. A website is updated periodically http://www.aun.edu.eg/arabic/fac_agr.
6- The college's Internet service is available to faculty, staff and students.
7- The college has systems for periodic review and control over the use of the college’s material resources


  7- Community participation and environmental development:

1- An approved plan to serve the community and develop the surrounding environment.
2- The college carries out some actual practices such as holding some seminars, conferences and extension convoys in the villages and centers of Assiut Governorate to educate farmers about appropriate agricultural operations for field and horticultural crops, as well as prevention and treatment of diseases and insects that affect these the crops and some of the faculty members of the college are participating in the extension research projects in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture or the Academy of Scientific Research.
3- The college has an administrative unit affiliated to the Undersecretary for Community Service and Environmental Development which is entrusted with preparing community awareness programs as well as implementing, following up and evaluating them.
4- Some community parties participate in the faculty council only, such as the participation of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture in Assiut, as well as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Agricultural Development and Credit Bank in Assiut and the Dean of the Higher Institute for Agricultural Cooperation and Extension in Assiut. Some businessmen and beneficiaries also participate in the board of directors of the Quality Assurance and Accreditation Unit in the college. Faculty members to provide technical advice to private farms and the surrounding community


  8- Institutional evaluation and quality management:

1- There is a quality assurance unit in the college that carries out the faculty evaluation process on an ongoing basis at the end of each academic year, in order to identify and support strengths and identify weaknesses and treat them.
2- The Quality Assurance Unit surveys the students ’views on the curriculum, the educational process, the faculty members, the assisting body, the administrative apparatus, and the resources available in the college. This poll is done on all students from all academic teams,
3- The results are statistically analyzed and discussed in the faculty council to make decisions related to development.
4- The college is concerned with following up the self-evaluation and developing the college’s performance based on it after discussing it with the concerned parties. The college compares the results of the college’s self-evaluation process annually to identify the extent of the improvement process. The college discusses and reviews the results of the self-evaluation with some of the relevant parties (students, faculty members, workers, community parties and representatives of labor market organizations). The college is keen to benefit from the results of discussion and review. It is very important to benefit from them, and to follow up on the recommendations that have been achieved. The results were extracted, analyzed, and sent to the University's Quality Assurance Center and published in a book for studying the results and indicators of undergraduate performance
5- A summary of the feedback of the students ’opinions is sent and the responses of faculty members are received about that feedback, and the matter is referred to the college administration to take the necessary corrective actions.
6- The unit updates and reviews course descriptions for programs and academic courses in the college and reviews reports of courses and study programs for the various programs in the college.
7- Inventorying the development proposals and submitting them to the college administration to take the necessary action.
8- Spreading the culture of quality for faculty members and their assistants, staff and students in the college.
9 - Studying the strengths and weaknesses of the college and ways to strengthen the weaknesses and maximize their strengths.
10 - Making a plan for development and strengthening and taking some corrective decisions for the overall performance of the college in light of the results of the self-evaluation.
11 - Supporting the academic leadership of the Quality Assurance Unit.

  Second: Educational Effectiveness
 1- Students and Graduates:

1- Admission policies are consistent with the mission, events and strategic objectives, whereby students are accepted according to the admission rules set by the Supreme Council of Universities.
2- The policies for distributing students to the various majors are transparent, as they are announced in the Student Handbook and the Student Affairs Office. And it is declared in the student guide. The college is characterized by the absence of an increase in the density of students. The policy of transferring to and from the college is clarified in the college bylaw. There are no foreign students at the undergraduate level, but there is a group of postgraduate students.
3- A survey is conducted to measure students' satisfaction with the admission policy. There is a plan to support students that includes book support, meals, medical care, and transportation. A questionnaire is also applied to measure students' support needs. Support policies are announced at the Student Affairs Office and the Youth Welfare Office, explaining the criteria for distributing support. There is a private hospital for students at the university, which is equipped for emergency cases.
4- It contains all the necessary supplies for emergency cases. Bonuses are awarded to outstanding students. There is a student guide that is updated annually and the student gets it free of charge from the college’s youth welfare department or the college’s vice president’s office for student affairs.

8- Encouraging the practice of student activities

  2- Academic standards:

1- * The college has adopted the academic standards issued by the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation (NARS) and has been published and circulated to the faculty members.
2- It is noticeable that all standards are satisfactorily being achieved, except for the standard of using information technology, which still needs improvement. The college has held several courses to raise awareness of academic standards and the use of information technology. The educational programs were built in light of the academic standards adopted by the college as per the guide to amending the college’s bylaw and proposing a new bylaw for the credit hour system that was approved by the Agricultural Education Sector Committee and the study began with it from the beginning of the 2009/2010 academic year.


  3- Educational programs / academic courses:

1- The faculty is keen to meet the needs of society at the level of Egypt, especially Upper Egypt, through its educational programs, as Assiut University, upon the request of the Faculty of Agriculture Council, grants a bachelor's degree in agricultural sciences in fifteen educational programs.
2-Some contributions were made to the realization of national development plans. These programs were designed and implemented in light of the requirements of the labor market, which were quantified through questionnaires that were designed and distributed to the beneficiaries and statistically analyzed in the light of which these programs were built, followed by questionnaires polling the opinion of employers on these Programs.
3-There is a clear, documented and declared description of the fifteen study programs as well as academic courses in the quality unit in the college, and the college is keen to ensure that the targeted learning outcomes for each program it is achieved through its decisions and that these outputs achieve the goals of the program. This is discussed in the annual report of each program, presented and discussed by the relevant department council and the department’s annual conference.
4- A new academic regulation with the credit hour system, in which studies began in the academic year 2009/2010.

  4- Teaching, learning and physical facilities for learning:

1- There is a strategy for teaching and learning in the college that is approved and documented, and a strategic plan has been prepared for the college through the Continuous Development and Qualification Project for accreditation (CIQAP). There are no unconventional learning styles entirely.
2- The teaching and learning strategy is reviewed periodically in light of the examination results / survey results directed at students / faculty members and their assistants. Some actual self-learning practices are done. And there are some policies followed by the college in dealing with the educational problems it faces, among these problems: university book, the increase in faculty members, weak student attendance.
3- The college has accredited field training programs for students, and the program is fully supervised by members of the teaching staff and their assistants. Methods of evaluating students are done through practical examinations, academic work, a seminar, and a written exam.
4- The committees of the examiners are determined for each subject, and the examinations are set through these committees, and the committees are held on the specified dates and in accordance with the regulations, at least one month before the theoretical exam.
5- Students ’evaluation results are reviewed and analyzed and presented to the departments and the College Board. Examination schedules are announced at the appropriate dates after consulting students. The university book is used for every subject, and students are not forced to buy the university book. The area of ​​the library is proportional to the number of students in the college, as there is a library for the student, another for postgraduate studies, and a library for scientific periodicals.
6- The college has a set of teaching and learning aids, and includes specialized laboratories and farms in each department, according to the nature of the study therein. There are also display devices connected to the Internet in all the stands. Some laboratories are also being supplied in some departments with display devices.
7- Preparing central laboratories for students and computer laboratories for students and faculty members, and connected to the Internet.
8- Declared policies for dealing with students' problems and learning problems, and the mechanisms for dealing with them.
  5- Faculty members

1- Departments shall, in light of preparing students, teaching hours, and majors available to faculty members, develop a five-year plan for appointment to be approved by the College Board and the appointment shall be made in accordance with the rules and laws in force.
2 - Count the faculty members and the supporting staff.
3- An inventory of the scientific specializations of the faculty members and the suitability of the scientific specialization of the member with the courses he participates in teaching.
4- Mechanisms for dealing with surplus or deficit in the teaching staff.
5- A plan to train and develop the capabilities and skills of the faculty and the auxiliary staff.
6- Evaluating the performance and satisfaction of the faculty members and the supporting staff.
7- The college library is equipped with modern study references, computers, and connected to the international information network.
  6- Scientific research

1- A documented and approved plan for scientific research in the various departments and a joint research plan between departments.
2 - Determine the efficiency of the research process.
3 - The contribution of scientific research to support and enhance the educational process.
4- Providing part of self-financing for scientific research.
5- Inventorying the scientific activities and research projects.
6- Evaluating the performance and satisfaction of the faculty members and the supporting staff.

  7- Postgraduate studies:

1- The college is keen to provide a set of graduate studies programs commensurate with the prestigious position and reputation of the college in the Arab world on the one hand and in a way that meets the needs of the labor market and the latest scientific and research trends on the other hand, in a way that contributes to achieving the college’s mission.
2-Calculation of the degrees awarded during the last five years.
3-Publish the administrative and scientific procedures for registering for academic degrees in the Department of Graduate Studies in the college and with student guides and on its website, and the supervision committee is chosen based on the systems in place in the scientific departments related to the specialization required to be registered, and the opinions of the departments are taken on any proposals that would develop work in Registration and supervision procedures The registration procedures are done manually, and the automation of the registration procedures will begin at the end of the reporting period
4- Evaluating graduate students by various means in light of the nature of the scientific content of postgraduate courses, including discussion sessions (seminars) - oral exams - written and practical tests - presenting research and quarterly work - reports.
5- The college conducts a survey of students ’opinions about its programs through several means, including a questionnaire form to measure the satisfaction of graduate students, which will be distributed to them upon completion of its preparation and who is targeted.
6- The faculty’s quality unit analyzes the results of this questionnaire. It is also intended to include a description of each course for the different evaluation methods and take them into account, according to the nature of the study in it.
7 - Description of diploma, master and doctoral programs and decisions for the various departments.
8- A system for registration and scientific supervision.
9- Determining the human and material resources available for graduate studies programs.

  8- Continuous evaluation of educational effectiveness:

1- The college adopts a comprehensive and continuous development policy that is in harmony with the mission of the college and takes into account the available capabilities and the needs required for future development, as a new bylaw structure has been prepared with the credit hour system in line with the requirements of the National Authority for Quality Assurance. The college is also concerned with the continuous development of human resources in cooperation with the university’s program to develop the capabilities of faculty members, their assistants, and workers. The technicians in laboratories are also subject to development courses provided by the project to train technicians.

2-The college works upon implementing its policies and organizing rules to achieve quality goals within the framework of the rules set by the university's strategic plan.
3-There is an integrated internal quality management system that is implemented by the Quality Management Unit in the College.
4- Spreading the culture of quality among faculty members, their assistants, students and workers.
5- New mechanisms to activate accountability and accountability systems in the college with regard to improving educational effectiveness.
