The international academic classification office at Assiut University held a meeting today, Tuesday, February 11 under the supervision of Prof. Ahmed El-Minshawy, president of Assiut University; under the supervision of Dr. Jamal Badr, vice president for graduate studies and research, and in the presence of Dr. Omar Mamdouh Shaaban, director of the international academic classification office; to review what the university has achieved in the file of international classifications, discuss mechanisms to upgrade the University's status in various classifications, proposals that would achieve better progress for the University in the field of classification, and some topics related to the activities of the office.
Prof. Ahmed El-Minshawy stressed that the file of international classifications is part of the implementation of the national strategy for higher education and scientific research, and the principle of international reference as one of its most prominent principles, which means enhancing the international competitiveness of educational institutions, pointing to the success of Assiut University, during recent times in achieving remarkable progress in many international classifications of various standards; and this is a result of the University's strategic plan; aimed at upgrading the scientific research system, international publication, support researchers, in addition to improving the quality of the University's research outputs, and enhancing international cooperation in the field of scientific research.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Amr Fedan, deputy director of the office, Dr. Mohammed Adawi, advisor to the president of Assiut University for alumni affairs, innovation and entrepreneurship, Dr. Mohammed Helmy Hefnawi, acting dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, and a number of faculty members from the Office of representatives of various colleges.
The meeting presented what Assiut University has achieved in international rankings locally and globally, and discussed the readiness of the international academic classification office to hold its fourth scientific day, in cooperation with the Center for students with disabilities at the University, which aims to review the role of the University and the services it provides to students with disabilities from the perspective of international classifications.
For his side, Dr. Omar Mamdouh Shaaban pointed out that the meeting discussed international cooperation initiatives with other universities around the world, reviewed a number of proposals to improve the classification of Assiut University locally, Africa and globally, proposed changing the logo of the office, and discussed activating the University's policies towards some topics related to the Sustainable Development Goals, Follow-Up graduates, the labor market, and people with special needs.
Dr. Amr Fedan reviewed the main criteria and indicators used to evaluate the University according to each of the international classifications, as well as the goal of each classification.
