Coinciding with Breast Cancer Awareness Month "Pink October"

Assiut University organizes two seminars on "The importance of early detection of breast cancer" at the Main University Hospital and the Southern Egypt Oncology Institute

Assiut University, under the supervision of Prof . Ahmed El-Minshawy, President of the University, organized on Sunday, October 20, two awareness seminars on "The importance of early detection of breast cancer", at the President University Hospital and the South Egypt Oncology Institute, in conjunction with the World Breast Cancer Awareness Month "Pink October", as well as within the framework of the 5-year passage of the presidential initiative to support Egyptian women's health, under the supervision of Prof. Mahmoud Abdel Aleem, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs.

Prof. El-Minshawy stressed that Assiut University is keen to continue its role and perform its mission in educating the community, raising its awareness in various fields, and strives to participate in international and local initiatives aimed at preserving human health and providing comprehensive care, especially the health of Egyptian women; as an essential part of the security and stability of the Egyptian family, and leading to a healthy and healthy society, capable of participating effectively in the state's plans.

For his part, Prof. Mahmoud Abdul Aleem pointed to the importance of educational and awareness seminars, which discuss the need for early detection of breast cancer, and its impact on increasing the rate of recovery, and raising the level of awareness among women and girls, in addition to means of preventing and treating it; to reduce its spread within the university community, and provide the necessary support to raise awareness about it, and urge the necessary examinations, and treat it early.

The first symposium dealt with three lectures, the first entitled: "Efforts of the Department of Oncology and Nuclear Medicine in Presidential Initiatives for Breast Tumors", the second "Your knowledge is Noor", and the third on "The importance of early examination and self-examination of breast tumors", during which the lecturers stressed the importance of early detection of breast cancer, methods of detection and symptoms of the disease, how to self-examination of the breasts, risk factors, and the difference between benign and malignant tumors.

The initial symposium was organized by the Department of Oncology and Nuclear Medicine, at the Main University Hospital, under the supervision of Dr. Alaa Attia, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Directors of University Hospitals, Dr. Khaled Abdul Aziz, Director of the President of the University Hospital, Dr. Rehab Farouk, Head of the Department of Oncology and Nuclear Medicine, and in the presence of Dr. Samir Shehata, a member of the Supreme Committee of University Hospitals, centers and oncology units, during which Dr. Heba Bakri, Coordinator of the Supreme Committee of Presidential Initiatives for Women's Health for the Mid-Upper Egypt Region, Dr. Maha Salah Al-Najjar, Coordinator of the Presidential Initiative for Assiut University, and Dr. Samar Al-Murshidi, a teacher in the Department of Oncology at the The faculty, their assistants, and a crowd of women working in university hospitals.

The second symposium discussed, through four scientific lectures; a number of important topics, including: how to detect early breast cancer through: self-examination, the use of specialists, and diagnostic radiology examinations, along with risk factors for breast cancer, prevention methods through monthly self-examination, and annual medical examination, as well as the role of diagnostic radiology examinations in early detection, through mammograms, which is a type of X-ray or breast radiography, sonar, magnetic resonance, positron scanning. The conclusion of the symposium confirmed that the diagnosis and early detection of breast tumors; contributes to reducing the burden on the patient and the state through effective response to the treatment protocols provided by the initiative free

The second symposium was organized by the University Oncology Hospital at the South Egypt Oncology Institute, under the supervision of Dr. Khaled Fares, Dean of the University Oncology Institute, during which: Dr. Ibrahim Abu Al-Ayoun, Director of the University Oncology Hospital, Dr. Amen Hamdi, General Coordinator of the initiative, Dr. Haitham Sami, Professor of Diagnostic Radiology, and Dr. Duaa Wadi, Professor of Oncology Surgery, and with the participation of a group of faculty members, doctors, nurses, and employees of the Institute.
