President of Assiut University Inaugurates Pediatric Chest Endoscopy Unit at University Children’s Hospital with a Total Cost Exceeding 3 Million EGP.

Dr. El-Minshawy: The Pediatric Chest Endoscopy Unit Provides Accurate Diagnosis and Advanced Treatment at Assiut University.

Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, President of Assiut University, inaugurated today, Wednesday, February 26, the Pediatric Chest Endoscopy Unit of the Chest Unit at the University Children's Hospital. This initiative comes as part of the comprehensive development and modernization efforts within Assiut University Hospitals, aiming to enhance the healthcare system and improve the quality of medical and diagnostic services provided to millions of patients from various governorates of Upper Egypt.

Dr. El-Minshawy emphasized that the Pediatric Chest Endoscopy Unit represents a significant addition to the diagnostic services offered by the University Children’s Hospital, with a total cost exceeding 3 million EGP. The unit is equipped with advanced technologies to diagnose pediatric chest diseases, including congenital anomalies of the respiratory tract and lungs, as well as chronic respiratory conditions. It also facilitates the collection of tissue or fluid samples (such as sputum) for necessary examinations and enables the removal of foreign objects from the respiratory tract.

The unit includes five rooms equipped with the latest medical equipment, including: An operating room equipped with a laparoscopic and anesthesia device, a recovery room, two sterilization rooms, and a room for the administrative staff.

The President of Assiut University praised the efforts exerted at the University Children's Hospital and the continuous development it is witnessing, stressing the importance of providing integrated medical services at the highest level, which contributes to reducing the burden on patients and their families.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Dr. Alaa Attia, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the University Hospitals Board; Dr. Yasser Farouk, Director of the University Children’s Hospital; Dr. Gamal Askar, Head of the Pediatrics Department; Dr. Mohamed Amir, Professor of Pediatrics and Intensive Care; Dr. Diaa El-Din Mohamed, Pediatric Intensive Care Consultant; along with a distinguished group of professors, doctors, and hospital staff.
