Assiut University jumps with an increase of (40,823) citations in the Spanish Webometrics ranking of Google Scholar Citations 

Prof.El-Minshawy: the increase in the number of citations reflects the growth of Assiut University's scientific production and the quality and efficiency of scientific research

   Prof. Ahmed El-Minshawy, president of Assiut University, announced a new progress achieved by the University in the field of international rankings, according to the Spanish Webometrics ranking of Google Scholar Citations, for the month of July 2025, where the University recorded the number of (562,722) citations; an increase of (40,823) citations during the past six months, as the ranking showed; the inclusion of Assiut University in the fifth place at the level of Egyptian universities included in the ranking, the number of (54) universities, and ranked (772) globally, thus enhancing the leadership the university is not only at the level of Egypt, but also at the level of the Arab world, and Africa.
     Prof. Ahmed El-Minshawy    that this progress is part of the successes and achievements of the University in the file of international rankings, where Assiut University has achieved significant progress over the past years, stressing that this increase in the number of citations reflects the growth of the University's scientific production, the quality and efficiency of scientific research provided by faculty members and researchers, and the University's interest in developing the research system in order to achieve a high level of excellence and regional and international leadership.

   Dr. Jamal Badr, vice president for graduate studies and Research Affairs, pointed out that the advanced and prestigious positions achieved by Assiut University in international rankings are the result of great interest in scientific research and international publication in prestigious scientific journals, in accordance with the strategy of Assiut University and the Ministry of higher education and scientific research, as one of the most important tools of the national state in building and comprehensive development.

Dr. Omar Shaaban, director of the international academic classification office, explained that the Spanish classification of Google Scholar top Universities by Citations in top Google Scholar profiles is issued by the Higher Council for scientific research in Spain, and relies in its assessment of universities by calculating the number of citations for published scientific research of researchers, as it is calculated according to the scientific researcher Google Scholar.

  The "Webometrics" rating is one of the most important international rankings of universities, as it depends on assessing the presence of universities on the internet, their digital effectiveness, and is an important indicator of the University's ability to keep abreast of modern technological developments and communicate with the outside world.
