The Faculty of Medicine, Assiut University, under the supervision of Prof. Ahmed El-Minshawy, president of the university, launched today, Monday, corresponding to 20 from January, the activities of the third Environmental Day entitled: viral diseases of the respiratory system a scientific and community outlook, under the slogan "our country .. Amana is in our hands", which was organized by the community service and environmental development sector at the Faculty of Medicine, at the headquarters of the conference hall, at the main University Hospital.
The Environmental Day was organized under the supervision of Dr. Mahmoud Abdel Alim, vice president for community service and Environmental Development, Dr. Alaa Attiyah, dean of the Faculty of Medicine, chairman of the board of Directors of University Hospitals, Dr. Amani Omar, vice dean for graduate studies and research, Dr. Hedi Makhlouf, vice dean for community service and Environmental Development, Dr. Atef Al-Horn, professor of Chest Diseases, and the rapporteur of the day, Dr. Khalid Abdul Aziz, director of the main University Hospital.
Prof. El-Minshawy stressed that Assiut University is keen to play its role in community participation at all levels to reduce health risks by enabling the community to understand preventive measures and promoting the adoption of positive health behaviors that limit the spread of diseases and infections, pointing to the importance of the environmental theme of the day, which enriches knowledge about the importance of adopting preventive measures that prevent the infection of respiratory viral diseases.
During the meeting, Dr. Mahmoud Abdul Alim praised the important and vital role played by the community service and environmental development sector at the University, which receives great attention from the university administration, and its keenness to implement events and activities that are in the interest of all members of the university community, pointing to the recommendation of Dr. Amal Al-Dali, vice dean of the College of Commerce for community service and Environmental Development Council during the recent meeting of the Council of community service and Environmental Development Affairs; the implementation of the activities of the initiative "our country is a secretariat in our hands", and circulated to various colleges of the University.
The vice president of the University pointed to the keenness to implement the vision of the Ministry of higher education and scientific research, which aims to achieve a comprehensive vision in various fields of development, and relies on the activation of 7 main axes of the higher education strategy, namely: (integration, overlapping disciplines, communication, effective participation, sustainability, international reference, entrepreneurship and innovation), which was evident in the organization of this fruitful meeting, stressing the continuity of these important events.
For her side, Dr. Amani Omar explained that the medical sector at Assiut University has witnessed great interest recently, which resulted in the opening of the trauma unit hospital at the University trauma and emergency hospital, and the general reception unit at the main university hospital, as two of the bright signs and important points, which are added to the University's record of achievements, stressing that prevention is better
The vice dean of the Faculty of medicine for graduate studies and Research Affairs stressed the importance of the awareness role of the media to preserve the property and resources of the state, raise awareness about health-related issues, and promote healthy behaviors through various media platforms to reach a large audience and inform them, influence their behavior, in addition to advocating for better health care policies and promoting healthy lifestyle choices in general.
Dr. Huda Makhlouf also explained that the Environmental Day came in cooperation between the community service sector at the Faculty of Medicine, the Department of chest diseases, infection control, and preventive medicine, noting that the day aims to exchange experiences between researchers and specialists from various disciplines, and develop scientific, research, and academic capabilities for researchers and faculty members, according to the latest developments in the field of Chest Diseases.
Dr. Atef Al-Horn added that the day includes a set of various lectures, on: viral diseases of the respiratory system, methods of prevention, a lecture entitled: monitoring respiratory diseases, by Dr. Ahmed Sayed Mousa, deputy of the Directorate of Health for preventive medicine, and others discussed; viral pneumonia and methods of diagnosis and treatment, by Dr. Lamia Shaaban, professor of chest at the Faculty of Medicine, and a lecture on: the role of infection control department at University Hospitals in confronting respiratory viruses, by Dr. Asma Abdul Aziz Al-Darwi, director of the Central Department of infection control at University Hospitals.
Dr. Khalid Abdul Aziz pointed to the keenness of the Faculty of medicine to pay attention to various fields by organizing many conferences and fruitful scientific meetings to qualify young doctors in scientific specialties and precision research, praising the cooperation of various departments and specialties, and wishing all those responsible for organizing this day, more successes.
