" Effectiveness of Rational-Emotive Behavior Therapy on Self objectification among Psychotic Females"

Research Abstract
Background: Self-objectification whether high or low is a cognitive process and could affect one’s way of behaving and thinking either positively or negatively. Rational emotive therapy brings to the spotlight and deals with those irrational beliefs or self-defeating thoughts as acquired by the self-objectification. Aim The aim of this study was to examine the effectiveness of rational emotive behavior therapy on self-objectification among psychotic females. Desgien: The research was utilized the quasi-experimental design. SamplingNon-probability purposive sample was utilized in this study. Sample included 70 psychotic females. Tool: 1-Demographic and clinical data sheet, 2- Self-Objectification Questionnaire, 3- Body Shame scale &4- Body-esteem scale were the instruments utilized for the study. Result: indicated shows that there were statistically significant differences between experimental group and control group in relation to the two subscales of self-objectification. Moreover, it was noticed that, there was significant reduction in the mean score of self-objectifications in experimental group than control group   scale. Conclusion: based on the results, the REBT approach to somewhat successfully reduce S. O and body shame among psychotic females. Recommendation: It is advised that researchers employ this novel approach to treating a range of psychotic illnesses in their upcoming study.

Relationship between Psychiatric Patients' Awareness about COVID-19 and Their Attitudes toward its Vaccine

Research Abstract

Psychiatric patients are at higher risk of dying from COVID-19, making the concern of vaccination willingness crucial. Aim: This research aimed to assess the relationship between psychiatric patients' awareness of COVID-19 and their attitude toward its vaccine. Design: A descriptive-correlational design was used. Setting: The research was done at an outpatient clinic and inpatient psychiatric department of the neuropsychiatric and neurosurgery hospital at Assiut University Hospital. Sample: Included 186 psychiatric inpatients and 278 psychiatric outpatients. Tools: three tools were used; Tool (1): Structured interviewing questionnaire, Tool (2): Coronavirus (COVID-19) Awareness Scale, and Tool (3): Attitudes toward COVID-19 vaccines. Results: The research subjects have the highest mean score and SD of coronavirus concern (12.2±3.3), followed by exaggerated perception (5.2±2.1) and the lowest mean score is related to immunity perception (2.7±1.2). The mean rank of coronavirus concern is higher among outpatients than inpatients and there is a significant relation between outpatient and coronavirus concern (p-value= 0.000). Conclusion: Psychiatric patients who have coronavirus concerns and have information about the virus have the wiliness to be vaccinated more those patients who have not aware of the pandemic of coronavirus. Also, it can be concluded that outpatients are more aware of COVID-19 as they are in more contact with mass media than inpatients. Recommendations: Implementation of educational programs about the effects and importance of vaccines against COVID-19.

“Effectiveness of PLISSIT Model on Sexual Dysfunction and Psychological Distress among Women Using Hormonal Contraceptive”

Research Abstract

Use of hormonal contraceptives in clinical settings and in the general public, may exacerbate pre-existing anxiety and depressive symptoms. The PLISSIT model is a sex therapy counseling model which can aid any persuasive practitioner to tackle women's sexual health. Aim: Evaluating the Effectiveness of PLISSIT Model on Sexual Dysfunction and Psychological Distress among Women Using Hormonal Contraception. Research design: A quasi experimental research design was used in this study. Research setting: Family Planning and Gynecological Clinics at Woman's Health Hospital, Assiut University. Sample: In this study a purposive sample of 100 women. Tools: three tools were used in this study, (1) women assessment sheet, (2) Female Sexual Function Index tool (FSFI), (3) Depression Anxiety Stress Scales tool (DASS-21). Results: There were highly statistically significant differences between pre and post implementation mean scores of female sexual function among women (p=0.000**) with a significant increase of the total mean score of female sexual function from pre-test (15.09±6.24) to (28.49±5.08) in post-test among women. Conclusion: PLISSIT model had positive effect on sexual dysfunction and psychological distress among Women using hormonal contraception. Recommendations: Nurses should provide counseling through PLISSIT model for women using hormonal contraception to optimize the sexual health and sexual quality for life.

Relation between Personality Traits, Fear of Missing out, and Depression among Social Media Users

Research Abstract

Background: Fear of missing out is a pervasive apprehension that others might be having rewarding experiences from which one is absent. Aim: assess the relationship between personality traits, fear of missing out (FOMO), and depression among social media users. Design: A descriptive - correlational design. Setting: The study was conducted at Assiut and Qena city in Egypt utilizing web-based online. Sample: Included 385 social media users. Tools of the study included socio-demographic data, Ten-Item Personality Inventory-(TIPI), Fear of Missing out Scale (FOMO), and the Depression scale (DEPS). Results: (13.20±9.041) of the studied persons who have depression were more than 11 hours using the net but (11.60±7.435) of them were more than 20 times using the net. Persons who have openness to experiences were positively and significantly correlated with times of using the net (r=.125*& p=.029). The FOMO is positively and significantly correlated with the depression scale, the FOMO is positively and non-significantly correlated with Extraversion and Openness to Experiences. Conclusion: extraverted individuals and persons who are open to experiences have positive relations with FOMO because they searching for new and they are afraid of missing any events via social media. Also, the person who spends much time using the internet and checks the internet more than one time per day is complaining of depression. Recommendations: Implementation of psycho-educational programs for social media users to teach them how they can manage their leisure time rather than checking social media.
