Postgraduate Studies and Research Council Resolutions

  1. In its session No. 371 convened on April 27, 2022, Assiut University Council has resolved to formally endorse the Public Service Center for Dissertations, Thesis and Academic Research as a designated center for revising Arabic language content within Master's theses and Ph.D. dissertations. Researchers are entitled to opt for any accredited center within the university for the fulfillment of linguistic review requirements. 
  2. In its 732nd session convened on May 31, 2022, the University Council resolved that Faculty and Leadership Development Center courses could serve as a substitute for the "Fundamentals of Digital Transformation" certificate, specifically for international students.
  3. In its session convened on March 22, 2023, the Council of Postgraduate Studies and Research resolved to delegate the authority to the Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research to grant approval for student re-enrollments upon payment of tuition fees. This delegation extends to both the academic year of initial enrollment cancellation and the subsequent academic year, subject to the discretion of the Faculty Council.
  4. In its 742nd session, convened on March 28, 2023, the University Council sanctioned the modification of Resolution No. 1346, enacted during its 636th session on October 30, 2013, pertaining to the conduct of the English language proficiency test certificate for postgraduate students. The amended resolution is outlined as follows:

                       The approval to conduct the English Language Proficiency Test (ELPT) at the Faculty of Arts in the university for postgraduate students enrolled in the                        university's faculties to serve as an alternative to the TOEFL exam, as stipulated by the University Council's Resolution issued on March 22, 1998, Students with                 higher qualifications in English or whose undergraduate studies were conducted in English are exempted from this requirement.In its 747th session convened on                 September 24, 2023, the University Council made the following decisions:

                           First: Approval of the continuation of University Council Resolution No. (915) in its session No. (727) dated 26/12/2021 regarding the necessity of                            obtaining Digital Transformation courses for awarding scientific degrees and diplomas to postgraduate students. Second: This decision shall be applied to                            students who will be enrolled in postgraduate professional Diplomas as of September, 2023.

  1. In its 747th session convened on September 24, 2023, the University Council made the following decisions:

                           First:  The ELPT certificate validity period shall be three years if it is a prerequisite for enrollment or registration.

                          Second: The ELPT certificate shall have no expiration if it is a prerequisite for the thesis or dissertation defense committee's formation or degree conferral.

  1. In its 748th session convened on October 31, 2023, the University Council made the following decisions:

                        Approval for the publication of research to be a prerequisite for the conferral of the master's or doctoral degree in the Faculty of Medicine, without being a prerequisite for thesis or dissertation defense committee formation.

  1. At its 749th session, convened on November 28, 2023, the University Council approved the recommendations of the committee entrusted with crafting the necessary standards and criteria for assessing the ratio of tuition fee exemptions for postgraduate students with disabilities, tailored to the severity of their disabilities.
  2. In its session convened on March 24, 2024, the Postgraduate Studies and Research Council decided to recommend delegating authority to the Deans of the Faculties and Institutes of the University, acting on behalf of their respective councils, for the processes of enrolment, registration, and thesis or dissertation defense committee formation, in addition to recommending the conferral of diplomas and academic degrees to postgraduate students. This measure is undertaken in the interest of student welfare and to ensure the timely completion of procedures, thereby mitigating any potential financial burdens arising from delays.
  3. In its session convened on March 24, 2024, the Postgraduate Studies and Research Council decided that the inclusion of any member in the supervision committee formed for master's and doctoral theses is a fundamental prerogative of the primary supervisor, subject to his or her explicit consent.
