The college welcomed a visit from students of the Electrical Engineering Department at the Faculty of Engineering, Sohag University, to visit the high-voltage laboratories at the Faculty of Engineering, Assiut University.

 
بUnder the generous patronage of Professor Dr. Ahmed El-Menshawy, President of the University, and Professor Dr. Ahmed Abdel-Mawla, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, and within the framework of cooperation between higher education institutions in Upper Egypt, the High Voltage Laboratory in the Electrical Engineering Department at the Faculty of Engineering, Assiut University, received a scientific visit on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, from the Faculty of Engineering, Sohag University. Students received training and a lecture from faculty members of the Electrical Engineering Department, Assiut University, presented by Professor Dr. Mazen Abdel-Salam, Professor in the Electrical Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering, Assiut University.

The visit was received by Professor Dr. Mohamed Abbas Abdel-Radi, Head of the Electrical Engineering Department, and Professor Dr. Mazen Mohamed Abdel-Salam, Professor of Electrical Power Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, Assiut University.

Professor Dr. Khaled Salah, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, explained that this visit reflects the scientific standing of the Electrical Engineering Department at the Faculty of Engineering, Assiut University, and its members. The Dean also emphasized that the Faculty, with the support of the University administration, welcomes all forms of scientific cooperation with higher education institutions in Egypt, and in Upper Egypt in particular, in order to contribute to developing the capabilities of the sons and daughters of our beloved nation.

On Monday, April 20th, Professor Khaled Salah, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, received Professor Hossam Maghazi, former Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation and Head of the Irrigation and Hydraulics Department at the Faculty of Engineering, Alexandria University. This meeting took place on the sidelines of Professor Maghazi's participation in the examination of the doctoral dissertation submitted by Engineer Ahmed El-Sayed Ali Hassan, Assistant Researcher at the National Water Research Center, Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation. The dissertation is titled "A Field Study on Replacing Traditional Flood Irrigation for Sugarcane in Upper Egypt with Drip Irrigation Technology."

The Dean also received Professor Iman El-Azizi, Vice President of 6th of October University and Professor of Irrigation and Hydraulics Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University. Also present were Professor Mohamed Abdel Salam Ashour, former Vice President of Assiut University and Professor of Irrigation and Hydraulic Structures Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, Assiut University; Professor Shehata El-Dabaa Abdel Rahim, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research and Engineering Consultant to the University; and several faculty members from the Civil Engineering Department.

Professor Salah also received Professor Maghazi on the sidelines of the examination of Professor Maghazi's participation in ... Professor Khaled Salah, Dean of the Faculty, expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation for their participation in the various scientific and academic activities undertaken by the Faculty, including conferences, thesis examinations, and other events.

It is worth noting that the thesis supervision committee included: Professor Mohamed Abdel Salam Ashour, Professor of Irrigation Engineering and former Vice President of the University; Dr. Tarek Sayed Abu Zeid, Assistant Professor of Irrigation Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, Assiut University; and Professor Yasser Mohamed Ali, Head of the Department of Optimal Water Use at the National Water Research Center, Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation. The examination and discussion committee included Professor Hossam Maghazi and Professor Iman El-Azizi, in addition to the thesis supervision committee.

The University President also received Dr. Iman El-Azizi, Vice President of 6th of October University and Professor of Irrigation and Hydraulics Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University, in the presence of Dr. Mohamed Abdel Salam Ashour, former Vice President of Assiut University and Professor of Irrigation and Hydraulic Structures Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, Assiut University, and Mr. Shawkat Saber, Secretary General of the University.

At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Ahmed El-Menshawy welcomed the University's guests, expressing his appreciation for their presence and contribution to enriching scientific research. He emphasized the University's commitment to strengthening scientific cooperation and exchanging expertise with various academic and research institutions, which contributes to enhancing the quality of the educational and research process.

The President of Assiut University affirmed the university's commitment to directing scientific and applied research towards addressing critical issues that meet societal needs and contribute to supporting sustainable development plans, thereby strengthening the national economy.

He added that Assiut University is working to align the outputs of scientific research with the needs of various sectors of the state, particularly in the field of water resource management. He emphasized the importance of translating research findings into practical applications and innovative, implementable solutions, thereby maximizing the utilization of available resources.

He noted the university's continued support for applied research that offers innovative solutions and reinforces its role as a leading scientific institution serving the community and developing the environment. He also highlighted the university's commitment to fostering collaboration with distinguished scientific expertise at both the local and international levels.

For their part, the university's guests expressed their delight at being at Assiut University, praising its pioneering scientific and research role and its distinguished faculty and human resources. They also thanked Dr. Ahmed El-Menshawy for his warm welcome and wished the university continued progress and prosperity.

The visit was to participate in the discussion of a doctoral dissertation in irrigation engineering. The dissertation supervisory committee included Dr. Mohamed Abdel Salam Ashour, Dr. Tarek Sayed Abu Zeid, Assistant Professor of Irrigation Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, Assiut University, and Dr. Yasser Mohamed Ali, Head of the Water Optimal Use Department at the National Water Research Center, Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation.

The examining committee included Dr. Hossam Maghazi, Dr. Iman El-Azizi, and Dr. Mohamed Abdel Salam Ashour, Dr. Tarek Sayed Abu Zeid, and Dr. Yasser Mohamed Ali (joint supervisors).

Professor Dr. Khaled Salah, Dean of the Faculty and Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Center for Engineering Studies and Consultations, participated in a ceremony honoring Ms. Samia Metwally Sayed, Director of the Center's Accounts Office, on the occasion of her retirement after a distinguished career of service to the Faculty and the Center. The ceremony was attended by Professor Dr. Abdel-Mottaleb Mohamed Ali, Supervisor of the Center, Mr. Raafat Bakr, Secretary General of the Faculty, and all Center staff.

During the ceremony, the Dean emphasized that Ms. Samia is a role model of commitment, discipline, precision, positivity, and dedication, qualities he personally witnessed during his tenure as Director of the Center from 2019 to 2021. He wished her continued success in this new chapter of her life.

The Supervisor of the Center also affirmed Ms. Samia's exemplary character, knowledge, and dedication to her work, making her a fine example for all members of the Faculty's administrative staff.

Mr. Raafat Bakr, Secretary General of the Faculty, commended Ms. Samia for her significant contributions throughout her career at the Faculty.

Honoring student Essam El-Din Shaaban, first year civil engineering student at the college

 

Professor Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Basset Abdo, Head of the Civil Engineering Department, along with Professor Dr. Nady Mostafa Abdel-Karim, Professor in the Architecture Department and instructor of the Architectural Construction course for first-year students in the Civil Engineering Department, honored student Essam El-Din Shaaban, a first-year student in the Civil Engineering Department. Essam was the only student in the first year to receive an "Excellent" grade in the Architectural Construction course during the first semester. This recognition reflects the instructor's commitment to honoring and supporting outstanding students in this crucial course, which is a cornerstone in developing civil engineers' ability to read drawings and understand architectural details, ultimately contributing to the quality of architectural work and structural designs.

Professor Dr. Khaled Salah, Dean of the Faculty, expressed his gratitude to both Professor Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Basset Abdo and Professor Dr. Nady Mostafa Abdel-Karim for this kind gesture and their encouragement of outstanding students within the faculty. Nasser City in Assiut names two streets after two professors from the college.

 

In a move imbued with profound meaning and significance, the city of Nasser in the Assiut Plateau has named two of its streets after prominent faculty members. The city honors the late Professor Dr. Abdel Rahman Mogahed, a professor in the Civil Engineering Department, and the late Dr. Mamdouh Ali Youssef, a professor in the Architectural Engineering Department. This gesture, undertaken by the city's administration, recognizes their significant contributions to educating generations of graduates in the Civil and Architectural Engineering departments, and their profound impact on urban development in Assiut. This initiative is part of the first phase of the Street Naming Committee's project, reflecting the city's policy of naming streets after influential figures in Assiut society who played a pivotal role in the city's development.

On behalf of the college administration and all its members, Professor Dr. Khaled Salah, Dean of the College, extends his thanks and appreciation to the Nasser City Authority in the Assiut Plateau, headed by Engineer Gihan Ammar, for this generous gesture, which reflects the city's appreciation for the scientific and community contributions made by the selected faculty members. It also reflects a high regard for the role played by Assiut University in general, and the Faculty of Engineering in particular, in matters of sustainable development, architecture, and urban planning in Upper Egypt.

The Authority had begun implementing the first phase of naming the city's streets at the end of July 2025.
