Research Abstract

Core samples from five wells in Abu Gharadig Field of the Western Desert were investigated for their lithofacies, diagenitic and petrophysical characteristics. The study aims to outline the reservoir characteristics and quality of the Bahariya Formation and Abu Roash C and E un these wells.
generally the Bahariya Formation was studied in two wells (nos. AG-11 and AG-34), and was found to be composed of intercalating quartz arenite with quartz wacke. The former shows a relative increase towards the northeast. Porosity values also increase in the same direction where it ranges from 15% to 25% in the NE and 2% to 12% in the SW.
